Contracts

What does a medical writer charge?

Onsite at a meeting: USD500-1500 a day

Per hour to write regulatory documents: in the beginning,

if you have a PhD: USD40 an hour. Your next job, USD60, then USD70, all the way up to USD130 when you really know what you are doing. Or more.

if you have an MD and are licensed to practice medicine: follow the PhD charges

if you have an MD and are not licensed to practice medicine, start at USD30 and go up.

if you have a MS, follow the MD charges

if you do not have a graduate degree, start at USD20

These charges are what you offer the recruiter or employer for you to be hired right away. You will sail over the head of others who are asking for more. You stay at these jobs maximum of 3 months, or until you have learned an important skill, and leapfrog into a higher paid position. It works. I did it. So have many others.
